Membership of SAVES is o[pen to those with an interest in pre-hospital emergency care in Somerset at the discretion of the management committee..

To become an active responder for the group you will have to be recommended by the SAVES Medical Committee  to the BASICS South West Committee.  They will consider your for accreditation and, if succesful recommend you to the Medical Director of the Ambulance Service as a Medical Responder. More details can be found on the documents section of the BASICS South West Website

As a minimum, actively responding doctors must be fully registered with at least 3 years experience since full registration.  They should hold a certificate in Pre-Hospital Emergency Care or equivalent (we will help with funding the course for this qualification) and have engaged with the scheme's CPD programme. Responding doctors must have appropriate medical indemnity insurance and be members of The British Association for Immediate Care (BASICS)

Currently South Western Ambulance Service restricts actively responding as a member of SAVES to medical practitioners. However SAVES welcomes paramedics and nurses with an interest in pre-hospital emergency care to apply for membership and to attend the regular SAVES educational and development meetings.

Lay persons who would be interested in getting involved in SAVES management, fundraising and support functions would be very welcome.

For more information or details contact the secretary, Dr Ed Ford.
