Pre-Hospital Emergency Care is a rapidly developing medical speciality. SAVES has bimonthly educational meetings where aspects of emergency care are presented or discussed and cases analysed for learning points. We also get involved with exercises with our colleagues in the ambulance and fire services. Blue-light driving skills are trained and assessed by ambulance service driving instructors.
In addition members keep up to date by attending refresher courses provided by BASICS Education and may broaden and develop their skills by attending other study days and courses such as those provided by the Advanced Life Support Group.
Some members of SAVES are involved in the provision of these national courses teaching other doctors as well as paramedics, nurses, ships medical crews and combat medical technicians from the UK and even further afield.
